New to us

Day 10

After a lovely sleep in our comfortable, cool apartment, we decided to try a couple of new sights. Our goal was the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts, La Defense for lunch, and then Chateau Malmaison.

It was not a brilliant morning when we headed out to the Guimet. But, to me, Paris is always beautiful.

The Guimet Museum of Asian Arts was a nice surprise. It was not crowded. It was easy to follow with the audio guide. I have not been much exposed to this type of art and quite enjoyed seeing these beautiful artifacts.

The pottery section was my absolute favorite. There were some seriously old, seriously beautiful, items on display.

After our enjoyable museum jaunt, we took the RER to La Defense with the plan to eat lunch at Chef Christian Dumonet's place.

Alas, the restaurant had turned hands and was now La Cite.  We met the chef as we ended our meal and were sincere in telling him that we loved our lunch!

The views of Paris from La Defense were spectacular on this now beautiful day!

The interior of La Defense is quite photogenic.

Back on the ground.

We were gung-ho (ish) to go to Malmaison. We caught the bus under La Defense and went three stops before getting off. It was very warm and was taking a long time. We bailed and headed back to La Defense.

We decided Malmaison may be visited via Uber in the future but for this time, we'd head to Jacquemart Andre. A few Metro stops later, we were there! We only had about an hour but it was very worth it!

They basically kicked us out. So we found a convenient watering stop and had a drink while watching Parisians go by. Always entertaining, that.

We took the metro to one of our favorite spots, Tabac de la Muette, for drinks. The smokers drove us off after a couple of drinks.

I definitely wanted to see the sunset at Trocadero, so we Metro'd there. (I seriously love our Navigo Decouverte passes!). It was another spectacular evening. And the fountains were on! It was the first time in 6 trips that we got to see them!

We walked across the Seine to the Champs de Mars. The view was also outstanding!

We had eaten at Alfio pizza and loved it in 2012. We decided to try it and it, too, had changed hands but was still very good.  The view of the tip of the Eiffel Tower was a nice bonus.

Our apartment in the 16th was close enough for a long walk but we decided to take Uber instead. After a quick ride, we were home. It had been another wonderful day in the City of Lights!
