We eat, a lot!

Day 11: Lots of cheese and wine.

My planning went a little awry today. I booked a wine and cheese tasting for lunch and Secret Food Tour of Montmartre for the evening. I was on food and wine overload by the end of the day!

We started out at Atelier des Lumieres but because we got a bit of a late start, and the line was super long, we bailed and headed to our first tasting at a cute Fromagerie on rue de Faubourg du Temple. We booked it on Air B&B and they were great about refunding brother-in-law's ticket.

The tour was very informative and lunch was lovely.

We walked around the neighborhood after. Beautiful doors everywhere!

We took the Metro to Rue Montorguiel.

Rue Montorguiel is a pedestrianized market street with a very interesting history and great shops!

We still talk about the great sardines husband bought for his dad at this store.

At the end of the street, we popped into Eglise Catholic Saint Eustache, a lovely church started in 1512.

We spent a few minutes at Les Halles shopping center but didn't buy anything.

Our next stop was Abbesses Metro stop for our Secret Food Tour of Montmartre where we met our guide and 3 other couples.

Our guide lead us to the Je t'aime wall. He said it was a park reclaimed from drug abusers who don't like getting high with children and families playing and living life. It was really cute.

I took pictures of the cool doors as we wandered in Montmartre

We stopped for delicious choupettes served up by the chef.

The doors in this area were more modest than the 16th (for example) but so pretty!

Chocolat Illene was delightful. The chef is creative in her concoctions and we were all well pleased.

This boulangerie was a winner in 2016!

Charcuterie des Abbesses provided delicious cold cuts for the group.

Our guide expounding at the Fromagerie. So much great cheese!

Montmartre was gorgeous on this beautiful evening.

After a (too long) sojourn at the "Secret" location  (a messy basement dining room), we had our favorite view of the Eiffel Tower before turning in for the night.

It was a day full of cheese, wine, information, and new neighborhoods. Although we wouldn't do the "Secret Tour"again, it was a great day in Paris!
